Elk Grove Hotel & Stage Stop Museum, voted second place for Best Museum.

October 11, 2008    The Elk Grove Historical Society will be hosting another "Special Event", a bus trip to Grass Valley to see the gas light Chandelier making factory, Quality Lighting, of artist Paul Ivazes on Saturday, October 11. Mr. Ivazes has restored gas light fixtures for many private homes and public buildings across the United States, including the Stanford Mansion in Sacramento. Ticket holders will meet at the parking lot of the Elk Grove Heritage Park at 8:30 am to board the bus and will return by 5 pm. In addition to the gas light factory, the day will include shopping and a no-host lunch in historic Grass Valley. Tickets for this tour are $45 for both Society members and the public.

October 20, 2008    General meeting of the Elk Grove Historical Society will be held at Logan's Road House located at 9105 West Stockton Blvd. The evening will begin with a no host dinner at 5:30 pm with the meeting beginning at 7 pm. The slate of officers for 2009 will be presented to the membership and nominations will be open from the floor. Guest speaker will be Gregg Velm, local historical author. The meeting is open to the public.
 
October 27, 2008    The last Board Meeting for 2008 at the Museum at 4 pm.
 
November 1, 2008    The museum will be closed this first Saturday of the month to prepare for the annual Old Fashioned Christmas Event.
 
November 17, 2008    General Meeting at Logan's Roadhouse, 9105 West Stockton Blvd. The evening will begin with a no host dinner at 5:30 pm with the meeting beginning at 7 pm. Information on a speaker will be forthcoming. There will also be the Election of Officers.
 
November 28, 2008    The Black Tie & Santa event will kick off our 2008 Old Fashioned Christmas on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 7 pm to 10 pm. The event will be held at our Elk Grove Hotel & Stage Stop Museum, located at 9941 East Stockton Blvd. The public is invited to spend an elegant evening with wine, caviar, chocolate, good friends and Santa. Tickets are $25 each and only a limited amount are available. If you would like to purchase tickets to this gala event, contact Jeanette Lawson at 916-685-8810 or e-mail her at msjlaw@comcast.net.
 
November 29, 2008    Old Fashioned Christmas Event begins. Hours are from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the Holiday Boutique open from 1:00 pm until dark.
 
November 30, 2008    The Old Fashioned Christmas Event runs from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
